Why Choose This 8-Day Peru Itinerary?
Many Peru itineraries include Lima, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cusco. What makes this journey different is the way each day is timed and designed.
This itinerary uses local knowledge to improve the travel experience:

Visit Pisac early in the morning, before the largest crowds arrive.

Add a private textile workshop with Ruth for a more personal cultural connection.

Enjoy a picnic lunch with Sacred Valley views instead of a standard tourist stop.

Visit Moray and the Maras Salt Mines in the afternoon, when the flow of visitors is often more manageable.

Explore Ollantaytambo in the morning, before most group tours arrive later in the day.

Take the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo with time to rest before the next dayās visit.

Experience Machu Picchu privately, with expert guiding and a carefully planned entry.
8-Day Peru Itinerary
Arrival in Lima
Welcome to Peru.
Upon arrival at Lima International Airport, you will be met by your private driver and transferred to your hotel in Miraflores, Barranco or another preferred Lima district.
The rest of the day is at leisure to relax after your international flight. Depending on your arrival time, we can arrange a restaurant reservation, a gentle coastal walk, or a short orientation near your hotel.

Private Lima Experience: History, Culture and Cuisine
Begin your Peru journey with a private exploration of Lima, the countryās coastal capital and one of South Americaās most interesting culinary and cultural cities.
Your day can be designed around your interests. Many travelers choose a combination of Limaās Historic Center, the San Francisco Monastery, the Cathedral area, Barranco, Huaca Pucllana, the Larco Museum or a curated culinary experience.
This day introduces Peruās history before you travel into the Andes. It also helps create a smoother transition into the rest of the journey.

Lima to Cusco & Private Transfer to the Sacred Valley
After breakfast, you will be transferred privately from your hotel in Lima to Lima International Airport for your flight to Cusco.
Upon arrival in Cusco, your private guide and driver will welcome you at the airport. Instead of staying immediately in Cusco city, you will continue by private transfer into the Sacred Valley, one of the best places to begin the Andean portion of your journey.
This routing is intentional. The Sacred Valley is lower in altitude than Cusco and often feels more relaxed after the flight. For many travelers, beginning here creates a smoother acclimatization experience before visiting Machu Picchu and returning later to Cusco.
The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to rest, enjoy the mountain scenery and prepare for the following dayās deeper Sacred Valley experience.
Local Planning Note
We usually recommend continuing to the Sacred Valley after arriving in Cusco because it creates a gentler start in the Andes. This helps the journey feel more comfortable and gives travelers time to adjust before the more active cultural days ahead.

Sacred Valley: Early Pisac, Textile Workshop with Ruth, Picnic Lunch, Moray & Maras
Your first visit is Pisac, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. Visiting Pisac early in the day is a strategic choice: the site is often quieter in the morning, the light over the terraces can be beautiful, and the experience feels more peaceful before the largest visitor flows arrive.
After Pisac, continue to a private half-day textile workshop experience with Ruth. This experience adds a deeply personal and authentic dimension to the day. You will learn about Andean weaving traditions, natural dyes, local techniques and the cultural meaning behind traditional textiles.
Instead of a standard restaurant stop, enjoy a curated picnic lunch with Sacred Valley views. This creates a more memorable and scenic pause in the middle of the day.
In the afternoon, visit Moray and the Maras Salt Mines. Moray is known for its circular agricultural terraces, while Maras offers one of the most photogenic landscapes in the Sacred Valley. Visiting these sites later in the day helps avoid the most crowded timing and creates a smoother visitor flow.
This is one of the signature days of the itinerary: cultural, scenic, locally designed and timed with intention.

Ollantaytambo & Train to Machu Picchu Pueblo
Today is designed to make the most of your Sacred Valley location while avoiding the busiest timing at one of the valleyās most important Inca sites.
Visit Ollantaytambo in the morning, when the experience is generally calmer and more enjoyable. Many group tours arrive in Ollantaytambo later in the afternoon, often before boarding trains to Machu Picchu. By visiting earlier, you can explore the terraces, stonework, ceremonial areas and living Inca town with a better rhythm.
After the visit, board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo, also known as Aguas Calientes. Arrive around midday or early afternoon, enjoy lunch and take the rest of the day to relax at your hotel.
This sequence is both practical and strategic. It allows you to use the day well, avoid unnecessary rushing and arrive near Machu Picchu with time to rest before your private guided visit the following day.

Private Machu Picchu Tour & Return to Cusco
Today is the centerpiece of your journey: Machu Picchu.
Your private guide will accompany you through the experience according to your assigned entry time and circuit. The visit will be planned around the best available ticket option, your physical comfort, photography goals and overall travel style.
Machu Picchu is not only a beautiful archaeological site. With the right guide, it becomes a much deeper experience: a place of sacred geography, advanced engineering, agricultural terraces, astronomical awareness and extraordinary Inca planning.
After the visit, return by bus to Machu Picchu Pueblo. Depending on your train schedule, you may have time for lunch before boarding your return train. Upon arrival at the train station, your private driver will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

Private Cusco City Tour & Nearby Inca Sites
Explore Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire and one of the most fascinating cities in South America.
Your private tour includes the Cathedral, Qoricancha, the Main Square and nearby archaeological sites such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo and Tambomachay.
This day connects the experience of Machu Picchu with the broader Inca world. Cusco is not just a base for travel; it is the most important cultural destination in Peru.

Departure from Cusco
At the appropriate time, your private driver will transfer you from your hotel to the Cusco airport for your onward flight.
Depending on your plans, you may fly back to Lima for your international connection or continue to another destination in Peru.
