Permits & Availability

The Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu does not require the same limited Inca Trail permit, which makes it a flexible alternative when Classic Inca Trail permits are sold out. However, your Machu Picchu entrance ticket is required and must be secured in advance.
Machu Picchu tickets are limited and assigned by official circuit and entry time. Availability can change quickly, especially during the high season from May to September, so early planning is strongly recommended.

If the Inca Jungle experience is one of your main priorities in Peru, we recommend checking availability as early as possible, especially for travel between May and September. Flexible travel dates can also increase your chances of securing the best Machu Picchu circuit, train schedule, accommodation, and optional adventure activities.

The better prepared you are, the more you can enjoy the biking, jungle landscapes, hot springs, and final visit to Machu Picchu instead of focusing only on the physical effort.

Your guide will monitor the group’s rhythm, coordinate logistics, suggest breaks when needed, and support you through the most active sections of the route.

Best Time to Visit Machu Picchu

The best time to do the Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu is generally during the dry season, from April to October, when road conditions, hiking sections, and mountain views are usually better.
The most popular months are May to September, when travelers have the best chance of stable weather. During this period, the biking section, valley scenery, and final visit to Machu Picchu are often easier to enjoy with fewer weather disruptions.
The rainy season runs from November to March. During these months, landscapes can be greener and there may be fewer travelers on the route, but rain can affect biking, hiking, river conditions, road access, and optional activities. February is usually one of the least recommended months because of heavier rains and possible route disruptions.
Because the Inca Jungle route crosses different climates, weather can change at any time of year. Good rain protection, flexible planning, and safety-first activity coordination are important.
