 Verified Sleep In and Enjoy Less Crowds!
If you are looking for the best way to see Rainbow Mountain, this 8am option should be your pick! The 3am tours say they beat the crowds, but when we arrived to the mountain, all the crowds were leaving and we were left with breath taking views and a peaceful walk down the mountain almost all to ourselves. The best way to avoid the crowds is to come at this later time with a full night’s sleep.

Our experience with Peru Private Tours was very good. Our tour guide Flor and Vehicle driver Alex were friendly, courteous , accommodating and all round good folks . We were picked up on time at the hotel and dropped back in time The Vehicle was clean and spacious. The breakfast and kick place they took was good with clean toilets . Flor patiently explained everything to us and Alex drove safely up and down the windy, scary mountain path If there was one temporary hiccup, it was that we made a late request add-on for Red Valley the day before the trip. The tour organiser on WhatsApp said it was not possible . But the tour guide on the day, Flor, said it was doable and helped us complete it. It was totally worth it. Overall , an excellent experience with this tour group for Rainbow mountain and Red Valley . We would certainly recommend Thanks Flor & Alex.

3-Hour Itinerary – Walking with Alpacas in the Sacred Valley

Welcome & Meeting Your Alpaca

You will meet your guide and the local alpaca owner at the starting point near Calca in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After a brief introduction, they will explain the route, safety guidelines and how to walk with alpacas in a respectful way. You then meet the animals where each participant is paired with their own alpaca for the walk.

1.5 hours Scenic Walk Through the Sacred Valley

Once everyone is comfortable, you begin a gentle walk through picturesque farming areas, with views of the surrounding mountains and the town of Calca. The pace is relaxed and there are frequent stops to enjoy the scenery, take photos and interact with your alpaca. Along the way, your guide and the alpaca owner will share stories about local life, farming traditions and the importance of camelids in Peru.

Alpaca Ceremony & Textile Insights

During the final part of the tour, you participate in a simple, heartfelt farewell ceremony, thanking the alpacas and their owner for the time shared together. This is a special moment that connects you more deeply with local traditions and respect for nature. You also receive insights into traditional textile processes and how alpaca wool is later transformed into colourful Andean textiles, adding an educational element to the experience. After the ceremony, the walk concludes at the Andean Textiles Center where you will participate in a beautiful alpaca felting workshop to create your own baby alpaca and then finally say goodbye to your hosts, free to continue your day in the Sacred Valley or return to Cusco.

No. The route is easy and designed as a soft, scenic walk, with frequent stops and a relaxed pace. Basic fitness and comfort walking on uneven ground are enough.

Whenever group size and animal availability allow it, each traveler walks with their own alpaca. In some moments you may share or switch animals, but we always keep group sizes small to maintain a personal experience.
