Inca Trail Collection 5 Days

The Inca Trail Collection 5 Days is our most comfortable and exclusive way to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. You follow the same legendary route as the classic 4-day trek, but with shorter walking days, more time at the archaeological sites and a final night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes instead of camping right up to the end.
Over 5 days and 4 nights you will walk original Inca stone paths, cross high mountain passes, visit hidden sites like Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñay Wayna, and finally arrive at the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) with your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. The next morning, you return for a full guided visit to the citadel before taking the train back to Cusco.

5 Day Itinerary
Cusco – Km 82 – Trail Start – First Camp
Early in the morning we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive to the Km 82 control point, where the 5 day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu begins. Here you meet your full trekking team – guide, porters and cook – and pass through the checkpoint.
Once you meet your team, you start walking along the Urubamba River on gently undulating terrain, with the first views of snowcapped peaks and small Andean villages. You will observe the archaeological site of Patallacta (or Llactapata) from a viewpoint, while your guide explains its strategic role on the Inca road network.
In the afternoon, you will continue at an easy pace to your first campsite. When you arrive, your tents are already set up, and you enjoy dinner prepared by the trekking cook before resting under the Andean sky.

Into the Highlands – Towards Dead Woman’s Pass
After a hearty breakfast, you begin climbing slowly into the highlands. Today’s goal is to gain altitude gradually toward the area of Warmiwañusqa (“Dead Woman’s Pass”), the highest point of the Inca Trail, but in the 5 day Inca Trail trek the ascent is spread across more time than in the classic 4-day route.
After walking around 3 hours, we will reach llulluchapampa, an amzing place where we will stop to enjoy lunch.
After lunch, the path alternates between stone steps, forested sections and open puna grasslands, with llamas and alpacas grazing nearby. Your guide sets a careful, steady pace, with plenty of breaks to catch your breath, drink water and enjoy the views.
After you go over the dead womans pass, the trail comes dowhill, this section is amazing for its outsdanding views along.
At the camp site, you have hot drinks, dinner and a detailed briefing about the next day.

High Passes, Cloud Forest & Inca Sites
This is one of the most spectacular days of the Inca Trail Collection 5 Days. You will be climbing again to the second pass near Runkurakay, after he second pass we will go through Sayacmarca, these are 2 amazing archeological sites in the 5 day Inca Trail trek
Along the way you visit or pass by:
Runkurakay, a circular ruin thought to be a lookout or checkpoint.
Sayacmarca, an impressive site perched on a rocky outcrop with panoramic views.
The landscape changes from high puna to lush cloud forest, with orchids, mosses and tree ferns. You continue to your lunch spotand camp site near Phuyupatamarca, sometimes called the “Town in the Clouds”, where you arrive with more daylight than on the classic 4-day itinerary, leaving you more time to explore and take photos.
After lunch we will have time to visit this wonderfull archeological site with plenty of time and amazing views to the urubamba river valley. After the guided tour in Phuyupatamarca, you will have time to relax or simple meditate in one of the most amazing viewpoints that only is possible in this extended Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
You end the day with dinner and a final briefing about your approach to Machu Picchu.

Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Aguas Calientes
You visit Phuyupatamarca and then walk down through the cloud forest to Wiñay Wayna, one of the most iconic sites on the Inca Trail, with its sweeping agricultural terraces and cascading water channels. After a thorough visit and time for photos, you continue for an early Lunch at Wiñay wayna.
In the afternoon, you reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) and enjoy your first full view of Machu Picchu from above, a moment many consider the emotional highlight of the entire 5 day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
You then walk down to the upper terraces and exit the citadel, taking the shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town), where you check into your hotel. The evening is free to shower, relax and have dinner.

Machu Picchu Guided Visit – Return to Cusco
After breakfast at your hotel, you take the shuttle bus back up to Machu Picchu for your main visit. Together with your guide, you follow a designated circuit through the citadel, visiting temples, plazas, terraces and viewpoints, while learning about the function and history of this World Heritage site.
If you have pre-booked an additional hike such as Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, and permits are confirmed, you will do this according to the time shown on your ticket.
After your visit, you return by bus to Aguas Calientes, have lunch (on your own or included, depending on your program), and then board the train back toward the Sacred Valley or Cusco. At the station, our staff will be waiting to transfer you by vehicle to your hotel in Cusco, arriving in the evening.
