Supporting women through responsible tourism

First and foremost, supporting women is one of our main goals. They have the same capabilities as men. However, they do not always have access to the same opportunities. For this reason, we provide spaces and practical tools that allow women to become active participants in the tourism industry. Moreover, we support their path toward entrepreneurship because they can succeed.

At the same time, this commitment aligns with responsible tourism in Peru. Empowering local women strengthens communities and contributes to sustainable tourism in the Andes.

Supporting Woman in the Sacred Valley

Social Context in Andean Communities

In many villages and economically vulnerable areas, women are expected to be calm and obedient. In addition, they often receive less education and are encouraged to marry young and raise children. Some women are single mothers. Others, however, have always wanted a professional career while sharing their Andean culture and landscapes with visitors from around the world.

As a result, sustainable travel experiences in Cusco must also address social inequality. Supporting women helps create long-term environmental responsibility in Peru by strengthening local leadership and resilience.

Equal Opportunities in the Tourism Industry

We firmly believe in being an equal employer for all people. Women have rarely had access to key roles within tourism companies. Therefore, we are actively working to change this reality. We are creating a professional environment that allows women to work successfully and grow within the tourism sector.

Meanwhile, this approach supports sustainable tourism in the Andes by ensuring that economic benefits reach those who have traditionally been excluded.

Female Entrepreneurship Workshop – Sacred Valley, Cusco 2019

A clear example of this commitment is the Female Entrepreneurship Workshop – Sacred Valley – Cusco 2019. Together with Qaytu School Workshop, we organized this event for women who wanted to enter the world of entrepreneurship and start their own businesses.

Moreover, the workshop aimed to strengthen women’s economic independence. For this reason, it contributed directly to responsible tourism in Peru and to community-based sustainability efforts.

Distinguished international speakers trained artisans from the Qaytu School Workshop. Consequently, participants gained tools to enter entrepreneurship and contribute to the development of Peru. This knowledge exchange supports sustainable tourism in the Andes by valuing local skills and long-term empowerment.
