Inca Trail to Machu Picchu  Classic & Short Treks from Cusco

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is the most iconic trek in Peru and one of the world’s great multi-day hikes. Following original Inca stone paths through high mountain passes, cloud forest and hidden archaeological sites, the route finishes with a dramatic arrival at the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) overlooking Machu Picchu.
Because of its cultural importance and fragile Andean ecosystems, access to the Inca Trail is strictly controlled. Only 500 permits per day are issued (including porters, cooks and guides), which means that in practice only around 200 trekkers daily can hike the trail – permits often sell out 1 year in advance for high season.
